JOB SUMMARY
Garden Valley Bible Church believes that the role of the Family Equipping Pastor (FEP) is to come alongside families and support them in their God given role of discipling their children.
GVBC requires the Family Equipping Pastor to be a person who is intentional about ministering to families. He must be an initiator and a purser of people. He must be active in church seeking out families rather than waiting for families to approach him. He must connect with families and follow up as appropriate supporting them in their daily lives. He is an engaged shepherd ‘spending time” with our families as one who encourages, energizes and empowers parents to lead their children.

Responsibilities:
- The FEP is responsible to uphold the churches vision of a family equipping ministry. All plans, activities, resources and programs are to be viewed and reviewed in light of “how this supports families”
- The FEP is to view himself as an extension of the church reaching into the home that area being his main place of ministry
- The FEP is to enthusiastically be a “go getter” and active in building this ministry
- The FEP role is primarily a relationship building and equipping role to families
- The FEP is to meet with the Pastor monthly and elder board bimonthly
Competence is measured by:
- Provide leadership and pastoral care to families to enable them to grow and disciple their children
- Develop a culture within the church that as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, singles etc we all are participants in family ministry within the local body and being part of our earthly families also
- Develop a culture where the home is seen as the primary place where faith and discipleship is nurtured
- To work alongside the Sunday school department in encouraging teachers, getting to know the youth and working with our curriculums in supporting the homework element of the curriculum
- To plan and lead “brown bag lunches” where relevant topics of growing families are communicated
- To teach in these areas as needed
- To be creative in viewing church programs and activities to join the generations rather than segregate
- Develop plans and curricula on how to mark “milestones” in a family’s faith journey.
- To train parents in these milestones before the event, examples Dedications, Baptisms, faith commitment etc.
- Provide direction and support in equipping parents to pray, read scripture and have regular devotions with their children
- Continually search out and provide resources to equip families
- To plan, organize and run a Wednesday evening ministry for families and youth
- Whenever possible to visit families in their homes building those relationships
- To use his home as a discipling ground by using the gift of hospitality in having families over for meals
- To be active on Sunday mornings in welcoming visitors and new families sharing about how we as a church can equip them.
- Actively seek ministry opportunities of service within the church and also in national and foreign mission service.
Personal Qualifications:
- Believer with a clear testimony
- Agreement with the Doctrinal Statement and endorses it without reservation
- Member of GVBC
- Heart for Families and their children with enthusiasm to develop and grow family ministry
- Good personal role model
- Overall knowledge of Scripture; significant knowledge of family culture today
- Spiritually gifted in one or more of these areas: leadership, administration, pastor/teacher
- Willing and able to devote the hours necessary to accomplish the described outcomes
- Physical condition and health appropriate for fulfilling the requirements of the position
- Passes FBI background check
